Vacuum Truck Driver - Recycling
PURPOSE OF ROLE:
Drives and operates a commercial truck to pick up, haul and unload commodities, usually plastics or fiber products. Performs all duties according to company operating procedures in order to maximize safety.
Conducts pre and post trip inspections of tractor trailer unit.
Prepares required documents and reports issues in an accurate and timely manner.
Maintains truck log according to state and federal regulations.
Hauls and unloads various non-hazardous materials according to operating and safety procedures. Maintains telephone contact with supervisor (when not driving) to receive delivery instructions.
Performs proper maintenance and care of truck and required documentation. Reports improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to supervisor in a timely manner. May be required to perform basic roadside repairs.
Provides general assistance, including but not limited to housekeeping, at dispatch location.
Learn and independently operate assigned equipment at customer facilities.
Be proficient in the care and use of all site specific, facility required Personal Protection Equipment. (PPE)
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE / QUALIFICATONS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
Must be able to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions).
Must possess a valid Class A Commercial driver’s license (CDL) and have general knowledge of State and Federal motor carrier regulations.
Minimum 2 years Class A CDL experience and a safe driving record.
Experience driving in assigned area. Knowledge of roads, best routes, alternate routes, etc.
Pass required safety training classes administered by Third Party organizations.
Work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
High school diploma or GED.
Required to sit for long periods of time while driving.
Uses hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
Frequently required to climb in and out of the truck.
Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, or kneel to perform maintenance on the equipment.
Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and peripheral vision.
Work Environment: Spends majority of time in truck and/or operations environment.
Possible Work Hazards: Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions, dust levels, fumes and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
